Hoarders - Season 3

"Compulsive hoarding is a mental disorder marked by an obsessive need to acquire and keep things, even if the items are worthless, hazardous, or unsanitary.

More than 3 million people are compulsive hoarders."

Many long months I waited for this latest season, and Hoarders you did not disappoint. Thought the last two seasons were bad? You‘ve not seen anything yet.

This season is their most extreme yet, and definitely the most emotional. I have to say some of them were hard to sit through but Hoarders is one of those shows where you are glued to your seat no matter how shocking it gets, and boy does it get shocking.

Yeah I rocked this face

What makes this show so good is that it’s not just a camera crew going into a house and being all ‘OMG! Look at this! What pigs!’ it goes deeper and is lead by a team of specialist psychologists and organisers/ clearing teams specialising in hoarding cases. It nails the very reasons why these people hoard and how they can get over it, each on their own individual path. There were many times I was in tears watching this season so far, as there were a lot of genuinely tragic reasons why people started hoarding. Seeing them go through their journey of realising the problem, pinning the trigger point and then the recovery process is compelling. Someone having the strength after keeping these things for years that really are precious to them, and then putting a single item on the junk truck is inspiring. The show even provides specialist after care for all cases.

For most of the people featured in this series, this is their last chance. They face loosing everything, their homes, families and even their lives. Sadly, not all of them want to be helped.

These amazing people are very much in demand though, receiving up to 3000 applications online every month.
In my previous Hoarders post, I mentioned the cats. Oh how na├»ve I was. I was going to post pictures here to give you some sort of idea of the amount of dead animals featured in this series, but it was so bad I thought it best for you to see it for yourself. Just going through the episodes and capping them has upset me so I’m not going to be posting them. In fact, no screen cap can even just slightly express the levels of extreme hoarding so I have left them out too.
One case in particular (episode 6) they pulled out cats after cats, after cats, after kittens, all dead. It was just horrific and I lost count of the numbers. A glimmer of hope in that particular episode was when they returned the next day to find that there were literally hours old kittens that were fit and healthy, so were removed in time.

You just have to see this show. Make sure you eat first, and be prepared to be shocked.
